As an educational institution it is the intent and hope of the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to cultivate healthy lifestyles and healthy communities. The AAAOM Community Education program includes Tai Chi and Healing Qi Gong, which are intended to enhance the health of our community members.
Tai Chi is a set of individual physical poses that are performed together as a single, fluid, meditative form. The modified Yang-style Tai Chi form is presented in the class. Techniques to increase strength and flexibility and relieve physical and emotional stress are taught.
Healing Qi Gong is an integrated mind-body healing method that has been practiced with remarkable results in China for thousands of years. Starting with a general survey of several traditional Qi Gong systems practiced today, the course consists of three components: lecture/instruction, Qi Gong exercises, and meditation.
Both are two-credit, 30-hour classes in the master’s program that meet weekly and are open to the public as community education for $210 non-patient / $150 patient. Admission into the school is not required beyond the course registration.
