CCAOM
The Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) is a 501(c)(6) voluntary membership association for acupuncture schools and programs in the U.S. Established in 1982, the Council’s primary mission is to advance AOM by promoting educational excellence in the field. As a requirement of membership, all of the Council's member schools have obtained either full accreditation or accreditation candidacy status with the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), the national organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit AOM schools and programs in the U.S.
ACAOM
The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) is the national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit Master's-level programs in the acupuncture and Oriental medicine profession. As an independent body, ACAOM accredits first professional Master's degree and professional Master's level certificate and diploma programs in acupuncture and first professional Master's degree and professional Master's level certificate and diploma programs in Oriental medicine with a concentration in both acupuncture and herbal therapies. The Commission fosters excellence in acupuncture and Oriental medicine education by establishing policies and standards that govern the accreditation process for acupuncture and Oriental medicine programs.
NCCAOM
The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization established in 1982. The NCCAOM is the only national organization that validates entry-level competency in the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) through professional certification. NCCAOM certification or a passing score on the NCCAOM certification examinations are documentation of competency for licensure as an acupuncturist by 43 states plus the District of Columbia which represents 98% of the states that regulate acupuncture.
Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
The mission of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice is to protect the public's health and safety by assuring that the people who practice medicine or as an allied health professional are competent, ethical practitioners with the necessary knowledge and skills appropriate to their title and role.
AOMAM
The Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association of Minnesota (AOMAM) is the only statewide professional association for licensed practitioners of Oriental medicine. We are committed to advancing acupuncture and Oriental medicine as a means for enhancing health and well-being.The Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association of Minnesota, Inc. is organized within section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
National Acupuncture Foundation
The National Acupuncture Foundation is a not for profit, 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 1991 in Washington, DC. The Foundation was established for educational and charitable purposes, including, but not limited to, the promotion of acupuncture and Oriental medicine and its allied health modalities in the United States, through encouraging and distributing publications, encouraging scholarship and research and education, encouraging students to attend schools of acupuncture and allied health modalities, disseminating to the public and to public officials information about acupuncture, and furthering the integration of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and other aspects of Oriental medical into the American healthcare system.
American Acupuncture Council
In 1972 the American Acupuncture Council East-Coast division wrote the nation's very first acupuncture professional liability policy. Today the American Acupuncture Council is the largest and oldest provider of acupuncture insurance in the country. American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
Formed in 1981, the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is the national professional association promoting and advancing high ethical, educational, and professional standards in the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) in the U.S. Its mission is to promote excellence and integrity in the professional practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine in order to enhance public health and well-being.

It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
National Institutes of Health
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation's medical research agency - supporting scientific studies that turn discovery into health. NIH's mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce the burdens of illness and disability. The NIH provides leadership and direction to programs designed to improve the health of the nation by conducting and supporting research.
