Changzhen Gong, Ph.D. received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and his B.S. and M.S. from Shandong University, China. He is the president of the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and executive director of TCM Health Center. He has served as the chairman of the Continuing Education Committee of the Acupuncture Association of Minnesota. He currently serves as a board director of US-China Business Connection, advisory board member for the Integrative Health and Healing Program at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, and consulting member for the Pre-Acupuncture Program at Duluth Business University. Dr. Gong also serves as an editorial board member of Acupuncture Research, published in Beijing, as well as being an associate editor of the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture, published in New York. Yubin Lu, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., TCMD, Ph.D. (China) is the architect of AAAOM's curriculum, and he leads the teaching of Chinese medicine theory and Chinese herbal medicine courses. Dr. Yubin Lu received his medical training from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as his Ph.D. and Master's degrees of medicine. He has been an associate professor in the Department of Chinese Medicine at Shandong University of TCM. As a gifted instructor with more than seventy books in print, Dr. Lu is currently conducting research in the area of TCM oncology and TCM gastroenterology. Wen Jiang, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., TCMD, Ph.D. (China) received both her Bechelor's degree and Master's degree in acupuncture from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and her Ph.D. in acupuncture from Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She followed professor Shi Xuemin during her Ph.D. study and investigated classical needling techniques and professor Shi's quantitative approach to needling techniques. She has been in acupuncture practice at the Fourth Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tianjin Weixie Hospital sinnce 1992. She has an extensive publication list of needling techniques and application of acupuncture on gynecological problems. READ MORE...

Hong Chen, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., TCMD, Ph.D. (China) graduated from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Luzhou Medical School, received her Master's degree from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and her Ph.D. degree from Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has been a postdoctoral fellow at the New York University Medical Center and pursued research on Chinese herbs on neuronal regeneration and the functional role of ARMS in BDNF signaling. She specialized in traditional Chinese medicine gynecology for her Master's training and traditional Chinese medicine dermatology for her Ph.D. training. She has taught at Luzhou Medical School, Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and practiced in their affiliated hospitals. She has published more than twenty research papers on gynecology and dermatology. READ MORE...

Daiyi Tang, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., TCMD, Ph.D. (China) graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in traditional Chinese medicine. He attended Peking Union Medical College Hospital, China Academy of Medical Science and received his Ph.D. in integrative Chinese and Western medicine. Dr. Tang received direct advising from Dr. Saishan Guo and Dr. Xiaochuan Liang, famous contemporary Chinese medicine physicians in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Peking Union Medical College. Dr. Tang has taught at Southwest Acupuncture College and New York College of Health Professions and has published and translated numerous papers and books. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture. READ MORE...

Yifan Liu, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., TCMD, Ph.D. (China) graduated from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. He attended Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and received his Ph.D. in acupuncture and training under the guidance of Professor Shi Xuemin, a recognized expert in acupuncture. Dr. Liu returned to Shandong University to pursue his post-doctoral degree. Dr. Liu has contributed extensive publications in acupuncture mechanism research, clinical observations and experimental research. He served as Chief Director and Associate Professor in the Acupuncture & Moxibuston Department at the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of TCM. Qin Chu, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., TCMD, Ph.D. (China) graduated from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in acupuncture. She received her Ph.D. in acupuncture from Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr Chu has worked in Shandong Shengli Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University as an acupuncture physician. Currently, Dr. Chu has fifteen years' experience in the areas of teaching and clinical practice. Dr. Chu has published comprehensive research papers in the field of clinical and experimental acupuncture. READ MORE...


Fangming Xu, TCMD, Ph.D (China) received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in acupuncture and moxibustion from Jiangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He received his Ph.D. in acupuncture and moxibustion from Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Xu's doctoral research focused on the treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes with acupuncture and moxibustion. His eight years of post-doctoral research examined the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion on brain physiology using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Dr. Xu has published more than two dozen research papers in his specialty and brings seventeen years of experience in research, teaching and clinical practice to his position at AAAOM. READ MORE...

Peng Sun, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., TCMD, Ph.D. (China) got his Bachelor's degree in Chinese medicine from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and his Master's degree in orthopedics from the Medical College of Qingdao University. He attended Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and received his Ph.D. in TCM orthopedics after working as a TCM orthopedic surgeon for ten years in one of the affiliated Hospitals of Shandong University of TCM. With ten years' formal training in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine and another decade of practice as a doctor of TCM, Dr. Sun has acquired comprehensive knowledge and expertise to treat many diseases, including common and complicated internal medical conditions, with special emphasis on musculoskeletal disorders. JunYan Wu, TCMD received her TCMD degree in acupuncture from Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Bachelor's degree in acupuncture from Shanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She worked as an acupuncture attending doctor in the 1st Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for five years, and her areas of treatment include psychological problems, such as insomnia, depression, anxiety, drug dependence, and alcohol dependence; weight loss and facial rejuvenation, including wrinkles and acne; gastrointestinal and gynecological conditions; nervous system disorders, such as facial paralysis, headache, and migraine; and chronic musculoskeletal pain, such as cervical spondylosis, shoulder and back pain, sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis, tennis elbow.

Brian Grosam, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., Ph.D. (China) graduated from the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. He then moved to China with his wife and two sons to pursue his Ph.D. in Chinese medicine at Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and completed his Ph.D. research and dissertation on the affects of acupuncture on perimenopausal symptoms in 2009. Returning to the U.S., Dr. Grosam opened a Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic located in Hopkins, MN, called Sun Acupuncture. Dr. Grosam is a Licensed Acupuncturist under the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice and a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine under the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Peter J. Dorsen, M.D., L.A.D.C., a Dartmouth College graduate, trained in internal medicine locally and at Johns Hopkins University. He brings over thirty years' experience practicing and a passionate involvement in complementary medicine. He is the author of more than 100 freelance sports medicine, human interest, and juried articles and has authored or contributed to several books, including Dr. D's Handbook For Men Over 40: A Guide to Health, Fitness, Living, and Loving in the Prime of Life (Wiley & Sons, 2000). His work with AAAOM began in April, 2010, teaching biomedicine and conveying the interrelation of Eastern and Western disciplines. Dr. Dorsen is also currently working in the field of substance abuse with a particular interest in dual diagnoses, especially bipolar disorder. He is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor working with the Neurophysiological Institute in Bloomington, where he offers a multidisciplinary and personal approach to addiction and mental illness. Gary Mumaugh, D.C. received an associate's degree in pre-med in 1974 from Fullerton College (Fullerton, CA) and completed his B.S. and doctorate of chiropractic degrees in 1979 from Southern California University of Health Sciences (Los Angeles, CA). Additionally, Dr. Mumaugh completed training and education in seminary and ministry studies between 1995 and 2007. During his career as a chiropractor he owned and operated solo practices in Brea, CA, from 1979 to 1986 and in the greater Twin Cities, MN, metro area from 1986 to 2001. Since 2001 he has worked and served as a minister of pastoral care, funeral officiate, and hospital chaplain. In addition to teaching core biomed courese at AAAOM since fall 2008, Dr. Mumaugh is an adjunct professor at Anoka Ramsey Community College and National American University since 2006. READ MORE...

Imaim Neng Thao, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., Ph.D. (China) graduated from the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He then moved to China to pursue his Ph.D. at Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, completing his doctoral dissertation on multiple sclerosis. Returning to the U.S., Dr. Thao opened Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic, now located in Ham Lake, MN. Dr. Thao is a Licensed Acupuncturist under the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice and a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine under the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Dr. Wei Liu graduated from the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and received her MPH (Master of Public Health) in nutrition from the University of Minnesota. She is a licensed acupuncturist under the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, a licensed nutritionist under the Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice, a diplomate in Chinese herbology from NCCAOM, and an item writer for the national certification of acupuncture and Chinese herbology. Dr. Liu is the author of five books on acupuncture and Chinese medicine for general readers and the main author of a series of traditional Chinese medicine textbooks and professional guides. She is the author of numerous articles on traditional Chinese medicine and nutrition and the presenter of the multimedia CD-ROM Complete Acupuncture. READ MORE...

Xinrong He, L.Ac., Dipl.OM., TCMD earned her medical training from Shanxi Taiyuan Medical College, and was an adjunct professor at the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. He has been trained extensively in both Chinese medicine and Western medicine, and is a member of the China Acupuncture Association. She has practiced integrated Chinese and Western medicine for thirty years. She is a Tai Chi master of the Yang Style from a recognized Tai Chi family. She is the author of many books and articles on traditional Chinese medicine. Dr. He is a Licensed Acupuncturist in Minnesota and a Diplomate in Oriental Bodywork Therapy from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Dr. Li Gu graduated from Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and was Deputy Secretary General of the China Acupuncture Association and a full professor at the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Gu is a licensed acupuncturist in both Minnesota and California and a diplomate in acupuncture from NCCAOM. He is the Editor-in-Chief of China Standard Acupoint Charts, drafter of China Acupuncture Points Standard, Special Editor of the magazine Traditional Chinese Medicine and author of numerous other publications. He has practiced traditional Chinese medicine for over thirty years.

Dona L. McGlennen, R.N., L.Ac. graduated from the University Of Minnesota with a B.A. degree in psychology. She graduated from Minneapolis Community College as an R.N. and obtained a Nurse Practitioner degree from the College of St. Catherine. Dona also attended the Minnesota Center for Shiatsu Studies. She has taught Western Pathology at Centerpoint. Dona teaches Western Physical Assessment at AAAOM.

Robert Decker, R.Ph., L.Ac. graduated and received his B.S. in pharmacy from the University of Minnesota. He had a three-year acupuncture training from Northern School of Chinese Medicine. He is a registered pharmacist licensed by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy and an acupuncturist licensed by Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. Currently he is a lead consultant and consulting pharmacist with Pharmerica and has a private practice in acupuncture. Mr. Decker teaches Western Pharmacology at AAAOM. READ MORE...
