On 27 February 2020, the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) placed the American Academy of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) on an “Order to Show Cause” sanction. If AAAOM is unable to prove why its accreditation status should not be terminated, ACAOM will take timely and appropriate action consistent with its Commission Actions Policy up to and including termination of accreditation. The accreditation status of the institution and its programs continues during the Show Cause period.
The American Academy of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine and the following programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM):
(1) Master of Acupuncture (MAc)
(2) Master of Acupuncture with a Chinese herbal medicine specialization (MAOM)
Accreditation status and notes may be viewed on the ACAOM Directory.

The Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program is eligible for ACAOM accreditation, and AAAOM is currently in the process of seeking ACAOM pre-accreditation/accreditation for the program. However, the University can provide no assurance that pre-accreditation or accreditation will be granted by ACAOM.
